Who are we?
Who are we?
Foots Cray Out of School Club also known as FOSC was first registered in 1998 by Vivien Johnson with a view that childcare needed to be affordable, safe, and good quality. A childcare facility run by families for families and that is still true today. Foots Cray Out of School Club employs a variety of staff all chosen for their own unique abilities and the way they interact with the children.
Some staff are highly qualified with childcare qualifications but others are there purely to facilitate the children’s varying needs such as a staff member that has qualifications in sport science to help initiate physical play in the extensive playgrounds used by the clubs.
Staff are fully aware that not every parent is comfortable with their children going into any kind of wraparound care and therefore they know that it has to be of the highest quality.

Meet the Founder
Having had my own children and realising how hard balancing childcare with working was I opened FOSC in May 1998 whilst I was a respite carer for Bexley London Borough accommodating children with SEN into my home for up to 26 days a year. During this time through Bexley I trained as a Lovaas therapist which is now known as Applied Behaviour Analysis, and during that time I worked with a child taking him into a Bexley School transitioning from one morning a week and eventually getting him to have confidence and stamina to stay in class five mornings a week.
Throughout 1997-2007 I gained my levels 3 & 4 in Childcare Learning and Development and in 2007 I left Bexley Borough Respite Care Team to take up a position at South Essex College as an Assessor and Tutor in Childcare and also Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools (T.A.)
I have completed a Level 5 course in Leadership and Management and in 2019 just before the pandemic I took the decision to step back and just manage FOSC on a full time basis.
I am very passionate that every member of FOSC staff should bring something amazing to the table in whatever form they choose but also to make sure during their time at FOSC they take on some form of qualification to take them forward so they have something for the future.
I pride myself on the fact that FOSC doesn’t have a high turnover of staff and some have been with us ten years
